Land acquired for Southeast London and West London elementary schools
The Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) has acquired land for two new elementary schools in London.
The new Southeast London elementary school will be located at Honeywood Drive and Gatestone Road within the Jackson Meadows neighbourhood.
The West London elementary school will be located at Upperpoint Avenue and Boardwalk Way within the Warbler Wood neighbourhood.
Both schools will be located next to municipal parks.
“These schools will be located in new, vibrant and growing parts of the City of London,” said Board Chair Beth Mai. “Thames Valley remains committed to providing quality education for all students and looks forward to the benefits these projects will bring to the district.”
TVDSB received $55.3 million in funding for both schools from the Ministry of Education in April 2024.
“As a father, I understand that the local school really is the heart of the community, and that it’s so important for young families to have a school that’s close to home,” said Todd Smith, Minister of Education. “Our government is listening to hard-working moms and dads, which is why we are more than doubling our funding to $1.3 billion for the largest one-year investment in school building in Ontario history. We are delivering the modern, state-of-the-art schools that students, families and communities deserve.”
Both schools are expected to be open for the 2026/2027 school year. Public information sessions will be announced later.
Costing $28.2 million, the new Southeast London elementary school will accommodate 655 students and include a five-room childcare centre.
The $27.1 million West London elementary school will accommodate 525 students and include a five-room childcare centre.
